God's Law & Justice Introduction

Introduction to Bible study topic of God's Law & Justice

10/19/2024

A big welcome back to everyone! It's been almost a year since we last had a chance to work on a study together. Like many of you, I have been busy. Besides working and caring for family, I have been seeking the Lord in quiet time through personal Bible study and prayer. I felt led by the Lord to start blogging a Bible study again. However, with this new season that I and many of you are walking into, I think God wants us to change it up as we are growing spiritually. We're moving on to topical study–specifically, looking at the Bible through a law, justice and righteousness lens.

For many people, reading is BORING and the thought of going through the Bible isn't on the top of our agenda. For others who read the Bible, we pick and choose the "interesting" stories or pick the passages that we find meaning in, so that we feel that we have accomplished our "faith" item of the day to be checked off. I know where you are coming from because I've been where you're at. The most difficult thing to do is to see the Bible as something more than a history, literary, or reference book because it really is all of those things and more. The Bible is the law book for the citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, where King Jesus rules and reigns at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20-21), with the case studies of what happens to those who obey and disobey our triune God's laws and regard for justice.

With Almighty God as the absolute king over the heavens and the earth, the Bible reveals Him to be lawgiver (Isaiah 51:4, Deuteronomy 5:6-21), supervisor of enforcement of laws through man (Job 12:22; Isaiah 1:17), and supreme judge (Ecclesiastes 3:17; Romans 12:19). We'll be studying the concepts of justice, righteousness, God's laws as it is written in the Bible, reflecting over some hopefully thought-provoking questions, and praying at the end. That's the plan for this study session. I hope you'll join me through this study. We'll dive in next week.
