Walking in Power and Glory (6/13/23)

Acts 3

6/13/2023

Life Lesson(s)…

Sometimes the Lord catches a believer's attention with what has been before him so that the Lord can show His Power and Glory through a supernatural act to be witnessed before a specific audience for a particular purpose. In the Old Testament, Moses saw a burning bush that wasn't consumed (Exodus 3:1-10). Or, consider when Elisha asked the Lord to open the eyes of his servant (2 Kings 6:16-20). Throughout the centuries, the Lord continued such supernatural displays, as seen in the period after Lord Jesus' ascension where the apostle Peter chooses that day to heal the lame man at the Beautiful Gate in Jerusalem.

An act of obedience under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Peter saw the mundane and spoke the miraculous command of healing upon the lame man in Jesus' name. Through the Holy Spirit in Peter, the power and glory of God was released upon the lame man and the witnesses of the miracle were introduced to the life-giving power of Jesus. Peter was able to speak the truth about the mercy and grace they could receive if they repented and turned to Jesus as the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

Your Thoughts…

Pray about Acts 3 and consider the following regarding walking in power and glory:

  1. What is power and glory when these words are used to describe what God blesses believers with?

  2. What appears to be the procedure for spreading the Good News that the apostles were using? Have you seen this done today? Do you believe miracles happen? Why or why not?

  3. From a faith stand point, why does the Book of Acts tend to be "overlooked", "minimized", and/or "discounted" in whole or in part?

  4. Read this chapter with a loved one and discuss your perspectives and seek out the truth.
