What Soil Are You?

Bible Study of Matthew 13:1-23 or Luke 8:4-15.

8/2/2025

Greetings this beautiful 2025 summer day! I hope everyone has had a splendid beginning half of the year. May the remainder be filled with blessings and joy. It's time to exercise those mental and spiritual muscles as we jump into a deep and thorough study of the "Parable of the Sower" found in Matthew 13:1-23 or Luke 8:4-15.

The parable will be broken into four segments. Each segment will last for four (4) weeks with a blog per week. Each segment will start with a sketch, Bible verse focus and questions followed each week with blog posts related to the sketch/verses. We'll begin below.

Please read the parable from Luke 8:4-15 or Matthew 13:1-23, if you read both you'll get more out of it given the different perspectives.

Now, let's focus on the sketch and passage.

Consider the following:

  1. Are you or have you been this type of soil? Why do you believe or think so?

  2. What do the birds and footprints with trampled seed represent in life?

  3. How would you approach a person who is this kind of soil if you wanted to introduce him or her to Jesus and all that He did for mankind?

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it…Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
